What happened to RaDonda Vaught? What did Vanderbilt nurse do?

RaDonda Vaught was a Nashville nurse who was found guilty of criminal negligence on March 25 after the death of a patient on December 27th, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Following the incident, RaDonda Vaught has been taken up by the appropriate authorities through judicial review for correction.

The patient, Charlene Murphey, 75 was admitted to VUMC in 2017 with a brain bleed so she was claustrophobic and was given an intravenous sedative versed in preparation for a PET scan.

RaDonda Vaught also gave another medication, vecuronium which is a paralytic by accident. This led to the death of Charlene Murphey as a result of her inability to breathe.

The former nurse, RaDonda Vaught had no prior history of medical errors and was open about the error right away and expressed deep regret to the family of Charlene Murphey.

The nursing license was revoked and charged and convicted in a criminal court and will be sentenced.
