Corporal Akwesi Yeboah with the Ghana Police Service has been convicted to 36 months imprisonment in hard labour for dangerous cycling and negligence.
The incarcerated officer formally stationed at Sogakope was found guilty of dangerous cycling and negligently causing harm after the incident on August 8, 2018
According to the facts of the case as presented by the Prosecutor Chief Superintendent A.Y. Ayamga at the Ho Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Felix Datsomor
A case of dangerous cycling and negligently causing harm was reported against the embattled officer on the day in question and after investigation the case was referred to Attorney General who advised his prosecution.
Prosecution started on July 15, 2021 at the Circuit Court, Ho.
Corporal Akwesi Yeboah pleaded not guilty and after trial was found guilty of dangerous cycling and negligently causing harm against one Gabriel Azilaku (now deceased )
The prosecution prayed for fine and compensation but the court imposed 30 months in hard labour for negligently causing harm and 6 months in hard labour for dangerous cycling and sentence to run concurrently.
