The priority of the Akufo-Addo government to build an expensive tomb for the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Forestry Commission is an insult to the residents of Sakora Wonoo, the hometown of the deceased.
“It is useless and needless for the President Akufo-Addo or any government official to think that the only way to honour stalwart like Sir John is to building an expensive tomb in his hometown. That’s an insult to the chiefs and the people of Sakora Wonoo”, according to National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Communication team member in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Gabriel Asiedu.
He explains that the Akufo-Addo government could have gone an extra mile by establishing educational institution and named it after Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie who happens to be a former General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) instead of constructing tomb to honour the deceased
Mr. Gabriel Asiedu on Kumasi-based Akoma FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, suggested that the people of Sakora Wonoo near Kumasi in the Kwabre East District be given at least a Nursing Training School.
“At least, nursing training school and other developmental projects for the people of Sakora Wonoo and at large entire Kwabre East District won’t be bad”, the NDC apologist stated
Earlier, the residents of Sakora Wonoo led by the queen of the area, warned all the government officials dare not step their foot in the area until the deteriorating road network linking the community is fixed ahead of the burial and funeral celebration of the former General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to the queen mother, there should be a monument to remember the late former General Secretary of the ruling NPP.
“One of the few legacies to remember our late Sir John will be the fixing of the road, abandoning it will be an insult to him”, she revealed.
