A former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister under erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration Joseph Yammin has called for the dismissal of the Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
The Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto has said debts are stifling the Planting for Food and Jobs program, a flagship policy initiated by the current administration.
Mr. Joseph Yammin while commenting on the Agric Minister’s statement in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo indicated that has to be sacked because he has failed completely.
According to him, the most incompetent Minister under President Akufo-Addo’s administration is the Agric Minister because he failed to protect the government’s flagship program Planting For Food and Jobs.
“The only achievement by the Agric Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto under the implementation of Planting For Food and Jobs is Plantain and Cassava. But the focus of planting for food and jobs is to grow maize and rice” Yammin revealed
He further explained “Poultry Farmers in the country are struggling to get maize to feed their farmers due to scarcity of maize in the country”
“A 50kg bag of maize as at last year 2020 was GHc75 but now the 50kg bag of maize is GHc140 and it is even difficult to get some to buy to feed the farm”
“Poultry farmers are crying because of prices of maize in the country and how they are even struggling to get maize to feed their animals” he added.
