‘Perching’ NSS personnel jumps from 4th floor of Mensah Sarbah Hall to avoid ejection


A young graduate, identified as Wahab Abdulai, a national service person, is receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after the fear of being caught by authorities of the Mensah Sarbah Hall for illegally residing in the hall of residence forced him to jump from the fourth floor of the hall( Mensah Sarbah Annex A).

The incident happened after midnight when some members of staff where on a mission to identity and arrest illegal residents of the hall, referred to as “perchers” by the university community.

Mr Abdulai had allegedly initially hidden from view within the balcony. But soon, he was overcome by fear and took the risk of jumping to the ground in order to escape. Lack eluded him when he broke his limbs and lay at the spot.

Some residence, who witnessed the whole episode, said that it took the ambulance more than an hour before it arrived to send the badly injured man to the Legon Hospital.

After initial assessment of his condition, he was referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for specialized treatment.
