The Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to consider nominating all the four(4) Physically Challenged applicants to serve in the respective Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives(MMDCEs) vacancies they applied for.
This, according to the group, would not be too much to ask particularly at the point in national life when conscious efforts are being made to encourage and create an enabling environment for Persons Living with Disabilities(PWDs) to bring their expertise to bear in building the nation.
In a press release signed by the President and the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled, Rev John Mefful and Mr. Clifford Owusu Ansah respectively, the group expressed hope President Nana Addo would give their appeal his kindest consideration.
They disclosed that about 1,300 applicants vying for the position of MMDCEs in various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies(MMDAs) in the country only four are Persons Living with Disabilities including Mr. Isaac Nana Kojo Antwi of Twifo Atti-Mokwaa, Mr. Ntim Twumasi Kwaku of Ejisu Municipal, Mr. Simon Yaw Japaah, Pru East District and Mr. Martin Obeng, Sunyani West.
“We wish more Persons Living with Disabilities had applied. The applicants aforementioned from our checks and dyed in the wool loyalists of the NPP who have demonstrable competence and exceptional leadership skills” they stated.
They therefore believed that when given the opportunity to serve, these individuals would perform satisfactorily to admiration of Ghanaians as well as Nana Addo’s led administration.
The society thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over the appointment of Dr. Joshua Makubu as the Oti Regional Minister which demonstrates his readiness to form an all-inclusive government which Persons Living with Disabilities appreciate and applaud.
