The next Chief Executive for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) must possess certain qualities and behavior to carry the daunting task ahead of him which the major challenges facing the people in the regional capital.
“The work of the Metropolitan Chief Executive supposed to be human-centred and the person who is supposed to occupy that position must have experience and good track record to deal with the people even when he or she is provoked”, Political Scientist, Dr. Amakye Boateng has suggested.
So far, six people have filed for the position of KMA Chief Executive. The candidates include the incumbent mayor, Director of Urban roads Nana Atta Poku Agyemang, Samuel Pyne, Ashanti regional Secretary of NPP, Kennedy Kankam former Nhyeaso MP, Randy Collins Owusu Amankwa, former MP Manhyia North, Kwabena Mensah and outspoken for Kusi Boafo, former director of public sector reforms.
Speaking to the development on Kumasi-based Akoma FM morning show monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)Senior lecturer proposed that President Akufo-Addo to nominate one person with such character to manage affairs of the ancient city.
“The President should look out for be competence and dedicated person who can do the work. As NPP prepares for another general elections, these are some of the things they should look out for if they want to win votes in Kumasi”, Dr. Amakye Boateng told host Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin
Government and the party has ended vetting of aspirants for the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region chaired by the Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, NPP Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako among other party executives from national and region.
