Kumasi Floods: Akufo-Addo’s MMDCEs, Regional Minister are incompetent

A former Mayor for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Dr. Samuel Sarpong has blamed the unplanned city of Kumasi metropolis on the current crop of political leaders in the region.

“I don’t want to politicize every issue but he Regional Minister and all the Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region are failing us. If you sit down as Regional Minister unconcerned about the activities of the people you supervise, you are partly to blame for any bad thing happening in the region”, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leading member accused.

While speaking to the Wednesday’s downpour in the region which caused destruction to several properties leading to the death of one person, the former Ashanti Regional Minister laid the blame on the on the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) appointees he claimed are sleeping on their jobs.

According to Dr. Samuel Sarpong, the politicization of every single issue in the stronghold of the NPP is killing development in Kumasi and the Ashanti Region entirely at the expense of good governance.

“When right things are being done for the people in Kumasi, there is always political hands that will try to stop you from doing such right thing. The people will either stop you or threaten not to vote for you”, the politician in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com

The regional capital of Kumasi Wednesday hit by massive floods, which destroyed several valuable items and caused nightmarish moments for the helpless residents.

Surprisingly, it rained in the Garden City for less than 40 minutes, but the after effects of the rain were horrible as the rainwater caused huge destruction to properties, running into several millions of Ghana Cedis.
