As President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has pleaded with Ghanaians not to spread misinformation or share untruths or controversial material on the upcoming census process, male staff and other personnel of the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) tasked for the job have been admonished not to abuse the process.
“Ask relevant questions and information. The opportunity you have is neither to look for partners nor fishing expedition to chase and impregnate innocent. It is all about information gathering and data”, Secretary, Association of Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum said
Speaking on Kumasi-based Akoma FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the Sekyere-Kumawu, Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum admonished both residents and non-resident Ghanaians living in the country particularly in the districts to get themselves counted to help the government plan well for their future
“In view of this, the Assembly fully support the census because it will address the various data gap needed for effective planning of sectoral at the district level .It is gratifying that the census will also help to transform the district’s economy and spur economic development at the national , regional and the district level”, Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum pointed out .
The 2021 census data on housing conditions, household amenities and assets will be very useful to all the MMDAs to assess the adequate and quality of housing and utilities as well as to determine housing tenure agreement.
“The MMDAs will continue to support the GSS to ensure the conduct of successful census through the District Census Implementation Committee. We wish to assure the GSS of full support of MMDAs to ensure success of 2021 Population and Housing Census”, the secretary MMDCEs in Ashanti Region, Hon. Samuel Addai Agyekum stated.
