Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu in the Volta region. He served as a deputy minister of state under both John Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama.
The MP has made a supplication to President Nana Addo to prohibit top government officials from voyaging abroad for medical care.
As indicated by him, this activity will leave them with no decision except to fix the difficulties being faced in our health care system.
This comes after the passing of a 12-year-old kid who kicked the bucket as a result of inadequate bed in the hospital.
MP for Ningo Prampram,Sam Dzata George initially broke the story via web-based media stating that the deceased had been alluded from the Battor Catholic Hospital to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, however was denied admission due to lack of beds.
As indicated by Sam George, an attempt was made to move the deceased to 37 military hospital but proved futile due to their in ability to procure an ambulance.
According to report, the 12 year old kid later passed on following a 5 hour battle just get him moved to Accra. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa described the whole drama as unacceptable.
He therefore made the plea at the Ubuntu Lions Club event saying;
”I make a plea for a complete ban of government officials from seeking medical care abroad. Let us fix our broken health system to protect Ghanaian lives. This must end. What happened to all the uncompleted hospitals across the country?”
