How a family of 8 ran out stark naked to escape death in Krofrom slum fire

A man, his wife and their 6 children who dwelt in a wooden structure at a slum in Krofrom in the Kumasi Metropolis had to run out of their makeshift room stark naked to escape death in a raging fire that swept through 10 structures on Tuesday dawn.

The man who spoke with Angel FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com said his family was unable to salvage anything from the inferno and that they would have burnt alive if he had not woken up in the middle of the night to go out to urinate.

It took some benevolent individuals to clothe the man, his wife and the children who walked around bare after escaping from the fire that started around 2 AM.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established but residents say it took a long time for personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service to respond to their distress call.

No casualty was recorded but properties running into several thousands of Ghana Cedis have been destroyed.

According to the Manhyia Divisional Officer DO1 Abban, they received the distress calls at about 2:00am on Tuesday night after which they proceeded to the market to put out the fire.

“The shacks are built anyhow and accessibility within the structure is very difficult. We have not received any report of any casualty, but as you can see, the whole structure is burnt down. We received the distress call at 02:11hrs and we moved in and access the situation.
