Chief Executive Officer(CEO) for GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited Maxwell Kofi Jumah is of the view that there is too much wastage in the country with Ghanaians making time to argue on needless things.
To him, time which is priceless to people in other countries is not priceless to a section of Ghanaians hence the focus on payment of salaries for the spouses of the President and the Vice President of Ghana.
“This is not an issue that Ghana has to waste too much time discussing. Ghana’s President has powers given to him by the constitution. He can appoint anyone to any position he wants so far as it will help him and make his work easier. Where in the constitution point to the fact that you should appoint a Deputy Chief of Staff? Some of the things we talk about in this country are evidence that we have nothing better to do with time in this country.”
Recalling his days at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Maxwell Kofi Jumah indicated that he used to go with some friends to JCR where they drunk alcohol and argued political issues in the country indicating that currently, “Ghana is now turning into JCR. When we wake up in the morning we make useless noise over an issue and it goes to rest for another issue to also be discussed”.
To Maxwell Kofi Jumah paying or not paying first and second ladies should not generate such conversations such that important issues are left unattended because the President is the one who has the power and chooses how to use it to the benefit of all.
“We send people to go to school to learn and apply wisdom but that is lacking in this current dispensation. This is a worrying feature of our country at the moment. All they’ve done is to change from allowance to salary.
