Gambling Turns Bloody As Three Mine Workers Kill Colleague
Following a gambling dispute, three mineworkers reportedly assaulted their colleague to death.
The trio reportedly assaulted Precious Siziba (23) from Filabusi on Sunday at around 4 PM and he died the following day at around 6 AM while he was admitted at Gwanda Provincial Hospital.
On the fateful day, the four mineworkers were gambling when a misunderstanding overpayment of the money ensued. The three started assaulting Siziba who fled from the scene.
One of them threw a brick at the now deceased and it hit him on the head and he fell to the ground. They caught up with him and sprayed pepper spray in his eyes and hit him on the head using unknown weapons until he lost consciousness.
Other miners who were in the area heard cries from Siziba as he was calling out for help during the attack and they rushed to help him. He said the trio fled from the scene and left Siziba lying on the ground.
The Chronicle reports that Siziba was rushed to Gwanda Provincial Hospital where he was admitted but died the following morning.
The matter was reported to the police who conducted investigations leading to the arrest of one suspect Marshal Sibanda who is assisting police with investigations.
Matabeleland South acting provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thabani Mkhwananzi confirmed the incident which occurred at Vulture Mine in Collen Bawn.
In other news, iHarare had reported that a fight over a cigarette stub ended in tragedy after a 26-year-old Kwekwe man succumbed to injuries he sustained fighting a 16-year-old boy.
Rueben Mukwaturi died following a fight with the teenager over a cigarette butt which the latter had thrown onto the ground.
