The father of the two sisters who were shot and seriously injured in the horrific shooting incident which rocked Gweru 2 weeks ago, has appealed for money for medical treatment of the two women.

Local businessman and the owner of Mixed Blend Car Sale in Gweru, Peter Dube went on a murderous rampage in which he shot four people. Dube who was in a jealous fuelled rage shot his second wife Nyasha Nharingo (31) and her older sister Nyaradzo Nharingo (34). The two sisters were grievously injured in the shooting and were rushed to Gweru Provincial Hospital.

Two other people were not as lucky, however. Nyasha’s best friend Gamuchirai Mudungwe (30) and her companion Shelton Chinhengo died on the spot. The two were the first to be shot by Dube.

Nyasha and Nyaradzo’s father Mr Bothwell Nharingo revealed that his two daughters are now out of danger although they still need medical care. He revealed that surgeons at Gweru Provincial Hospital (GPH) had successfully removed a bullet that was lodged in Nyaradzo’s skull.

Nyasha is also doing well and was recently discharged from the hospital.

In an interview with the Chronicle, Mr Nharingo said,

“First to be discharged was Nyasha although she has not fully recovered. But she is recuperating well at home. The greatest news was the successful operation of Nyaradzo. Doctors at GPH managed to remove the bullet that was in her head after some days where we were wondering if she was going to be saved,”

Mr Nharingo, however, cautioned that the sisters still need to follow up treatment. He said that the family is struggling to pay the medical bills and appealed to well-wishers for help. He revealed that the family needs US$1 000 for scans to determine where the bullets are lodged.

“So we managed to raise US$500 which went towards Nyaradzo’s scan leading to her successful operation. She is still admitted to the hospital where they are monitoring her but she is in a stable condition.”

“While we appreciate the Lord for Nyasha who is out of danger. She still needs a scan to determine where the foreign object is so that it can be taken out. Yes, she is home but she hasn’t fully recovered. We are appealing to well-wishers to assist us raise the money so that she is assisted as soon as possible before she experiences any complications.”
