In other news, iHarare reported that the government has dismissed reports that Bulawayo is now under a tougher lockdown which includes a 6 PM to a 6 AM curfew.
This came barely 48 hours after the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Bulawayo had announced that it will be enforcing a 12-hour curfew to enforce the government’s Covid-19 regulations in parts of the city following a recent surge in Covid-19 infections and deaths in the country.
On Thursday, Bulawayo Police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube released a statement announcing that parts of the city were under a localized lockdown.
However, this assertion was dismissed by the Deputy Minister of Health and Care John Mangwiro.
Mangwiro said that such measures can only be announced by President Emmerson Mnangagwa or Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
