Former Member of Parliament for Tema East Titus Glover has said that whiles the Police gather its intelligence in order to arrest criminals, the criminals are always ahead of the Police.
He indicates that investment in intelligence gathering is a must at this point in order to help the Police apprehend criminals.
Titus Glover was speaking on the recent rise in crime across the country on Accra-based Onua TV.
He said “three things will help us in the fight against crime. Firstly, last week the President of Ghana launched the National Security Strategy Document and while at it, he mentioned three things, the first among them was funding. He asked that the National Security Minister should liaise with the Finance Minister.
Even with Intelligence gathering and if we want credible information about criminals it is money you’ll use to buy such information. In as much as the Police are following criminals, they are also trying so hard to outwit the security agencies”.
He used the opportunity to call on the government to better resource the Police in order to better place them for the task for which they are employed.
