Dr Dominic Ayine, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga East constituency has described as balderdash claims that the National Democratic Congress(NDC) does not have their collated figures of the 2020 election results.
The former Deputy Attorney General was reacting to accusations of the NDC failing to account to its members on the activities and outcome of the election.
A member of the Council of Elders of the party Dr Benjamin Kumbuor had raised concerns over the inability of the party to publicly state figures collated by the party in the election. The situation he asserted raises credibility issues against the party and its leadership.
However, Dr Dominic Ayine believes such demands for collated was orchestrated by the New Patriotic Party(NPP) following a decision not to make present the said election results at the supreme court.
“That issue of collation and results is pure balderdash because I was involved in the election petition and we had 98.7% of our pink sheets. Ben Kumbuor and co should know that. We had done collation. This whole thing was orchestrated by the NPP that because we didn’t come to the supreme court with truckloads of pink sheets to show that we have our pink sheets ready, then it means that we didn’t have pink sheets and that is why we lost the case in the supreme court,” he said on Dreamz FM’s State of Our Nation monitored by MyNewsGh.com
Dr Ayine disclosed that the legal team of the NDC flagbearer which he was part of advised Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the general secretary of the party who was a witness in the petition hearing not to present any figure to the court.
“We went to court on the basis of the figures collated by the electoral commission and by us [NDC]. You don’t need to go to court with your own figures. We told Asiedu Nketiah that he didn’t need to tell them what figures we had because we didn’t go to prove our figures but the figures of the electoral commission,” he added.
