Antonio Rudiger has thrown a subtle dig at Daniel Amartey after the German defender inspired Chelsea to a vital 2-1 victory against EPL top-four rivals Leicester City on Tuesday.
Chelsea got revenge for their defeat to Leicester in the Wembley showdown by claiming a huge 2-1 victory on Tuesday night, which puts the Blues in control of the race for Champions League qualification.
Rudiger’s first goal in 15 months and a Jorginho penalty inched Chelsea towards a top-four Premier League finish with a win over the Foxes.
Germany defender Rudiger bundled home Ben Chilwell’s deflected corner with his thigh as Chelsea shook off Timo Werner’s two disallowed goals at Stamford Bridge.
In the 66th minute, Jorginho calmly slotted a spot-kick to seal the Blues’ vital victory.
Kelechi Iheanacho sidefooted in for Leicester to set up a nervy finish, but Chelsea held on to record a 2-1 win.
The Blues avenged Saturday’s 1-0 FA Cup final defeat by Leicester with a pulsating showing in west London, to leapfrog the Foxes into third place in the Premier League table.
With the game petering out to a 2-1 victory for the west London outfit, several Chelsea players were enraged by a reckless challenge from Foxes full-back Ricardo Pereira.
Within moments several Leicester players piled into back up their teammate, including some from the bench – such as Daniel Amartey.
The 26-year-old was given a caution for his troubles.
Amartey made his way into the headlines following Leicester’s FA Cup final win over the Blues on Saturday, when he threw Chelsea’s pennant to the ground in celebration.
In the wake of the match, Rudiger fired a potshot — claiming they had to punish their opponents because some of them don’t know how to celebrate a victory.
”Unfortunately, some of them don’t know how to celebrate…we had to punish them,” Rudiger said.
Leicester were however forced to apologise after Amartey after the incident.
Amartey has scored one goal in twelve games for the club this season.
